Connecting Essex through Cycling and Walking

Overview

Essex County Council want to improve cycling and walking routes to give residents more travel options.

By developing the proposed cycling and walking networks, we can make our streets healthier, safer and greener for everyone. These networks will increase safety and accessibility for those who walk, wheel or cycle. These ways of traveling can also improve our physical health and wellbeing.

At this stage, the proposed network of cycling and walking routes has been developed using transport modelling tools. This network highlights leisure routes to better connect people to wider towns and villages. The consultation will help identify and refine the proposed routes using local knowledge. Attached in the documents section on the right, under ''Documents,'' are PDFs of the proposed walking and cycling routes for each location.

The survey below will be running from the 21st of November until the 10th of January 2025.

Why your views matter

We are currently seeking your views on the proposed cycling and walking networks.

To help us with planning for future infrastructure, we would like your input on any important routes not shown, and to what extent you agree or disagree with the networks and their connections to key destinations.

This survey is intended to gather feedback from residents and businesses using their local knowledge. No construction has been pre-planned, and we will consult residents again if any detailed plans arise.

Fill in the survey below and/or make comments on the maps located in the Maps tab below, you will have to scroll down to find your area of interest. If you would like to comment on more than one area, please complete a new survey response for each area.

Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey.

For any questions you may have about the consultation or to request a paper copy, please email SGH.Routes@essex.gov.uk(External link).
