Hawthorn Avenue
The Sustainable Transport team at Essex County Council has received funding through the Active Travel Fund 4 scheme which will allow us to make improvements.
A survey and school gate event took place to shape the changes on the street. A selection of physical measures were explored in 2024, including:
- A new raised zebra crossing to slow traffic and improve conditions when crossing.
- New speed cushions.
- New pencil-shaped bollards.
- More law enforcement presence.
- Replacement illuminated bollards to improve conditions when crossing.
Construction of a raised zebra crossing, speed cushions and carriageway resurfacing will be taking place during 24th of January - 23rd February. The works will be completed over a combination of nights, weekends and daytime working (daytime half-term working only).
