Broome Grove Wivenhoe

Broome Grove Primary School

Update as of 10/04/2026:

The works are due to complete this week and will be operational for school use when pupils return after the Easter break, with only a few minor elements remaining to be finalised.

As part of the programme, the new road surfacing is still in the process of fully setting and embedding. During this period, some localised areas required slight remedial patching, which has now been completed.

Thank you for your continued support in helping us deliver safer, healthier environments around our schools.

Work with Broome Grove Primary School and the surrounding community began in 2023 to address concerns around poor parking behaviours, speeding, poor quality road surface and pedestrian safety crossing the road. A dedicated engagement day took place on 4 November 2024, including sessions with the school, parents, and residents. Feedback centred on red route timings, proposed crossing build-outs, and local issues such as bus turning access and hedge trimming. This input informed adjustments to the scheme design.

Scheme Details

  • Red route restrictions between 8:15-9:15am and 2:45-3:45pm
  • Child crossing markings
  • Build-outs to help slow and manage traffic
  • Improved pedestrian crossing point with tactile paving
  • Road micro-surfacing

Construction is planned to take place during the February 2026 school half terms. Any works required outside this period will be kept to a minimum and carefully managed to reduce disruption to families and the school community.
