"Our hospitals provide care and diagnostic services to a population of about 1.2 million Essex residents so travel is a major issue for us.
Working as part of STEN has helped us better understand travel movements to and from our hospitals so we can develop plans that will help get our staff safely to work on time and ensure our patients they arrive stress free for their appointments.
It’s a huge task and an ongoing process. STEN is helping us make sense of the complexity and supporting us to develop more sustainable travel to our busy sites."
Mid & South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, one of the largest employers in Essex with around 16,000 staff.
"Chelmsford City Council has been part of Essex County Council Sustainable Travel Network for many years, receiving great support towards encouraging active travel across the council. The support from STEN has been fantastic and has helped us t achieve a gold accreditation with Modeshift STARS. we would highly recommend this service to any organisation looking to enhance and improve their staff travel plan."
Chelmsford City Council
Ford Dunton Technical Centre located in Basildon is the European Headquarters for our Commercial Vehicle business and a hub for engineering, marketing and sales and many other functions. Working as part of STEN has helped us identify our employees modes of travel to site and allow us to develop plans for active travel (or more sustainable travel) and cement existing ideas to improve facilities on site. For us, embracing active travel or alternative modes of transportation is an integral part of our broader health, wellbeing and sustainability goals and aligns to our European initiative “Park the Car”. STEN is supporting us on the journey to deliver an environment where employees have a choice on how they get to work with suitable facilities available to them – this is part of a long term plan and commitment to continuously improve.
