The main works are due to complete this week and the scheme will be operational for school use when pupils return after the Easter break, with only a few minor elements left to finalise.
We are currently investigating a drainage issue identified on site. Further assessment and any necessary treatment are underway, and depending on the outcome, it may be necessary for our contractors to return at a later date to fully resolve this matter.
We understand your frustrations and we thank you for your patience. Thank you for your continued support in helping us deliver safer, healthier environments around our schools.
In 2023, Essex County Council worked with Myland Primary School and the local community to identify key safety concerns along Mill Road. Early engagement included a survey, school engagement events with parents, and workshops with residents, which highlighted issues such as unsafe parking, speeding, and narrow footways. A follow-up school gate event was held on 10 December 2024, with parents, school staff and residents engaging with officers outside the school gates prior to Traffic Regulation Order consultation. The feedback obtained has helped to refine the schemes proposals, particularly around enforcement and footway width.
