Essex County Council (ECC) recognises that demand exists within community spaces to improve the provision of public bike storage. This document provides a framework which allows organisations to define what they require, detail the costs, and explain the justification for their proposal.
Applications are welcome from Essex district/borough/city councils, employment sites, education establishments, and retail/leisure complexes.
We have a finite budget for bike storage in the 2026-27 financial year, and grants will be examined on a first-come-first-served basis and assessed against set criteria until the funds are fully allocated. Applications may be placed on a reserve list if demand exceeds the available budget.
